Our very own Pam Swihart, Health Services Director, is making a notable impact on the lives of our residents, while inspiring other staff to do the same! She is one of the many Autumn View Gardens care givers training in Teepa Snow's POSITIVE APPROACH™ - a progressive therapy for helping seniors and their families recognize and manage the early signs of memory change.
As Health Services Director at Autumn View Garden Assisted Living, Pam Swihart, RN is intent on empowering the nursing team to learn how to meet each resident where they are in their journey of Dementia.
As Teepa Snow POSITIVE APPROACH™ learners, Pam has encouraged her nursing staff to use this approach to better serve the residents, even those with mild dementia. The Positive Approach is used to have a better understanding why our residents with dementia sometime become anxious, withdrawn or having challenging behaviors. This approach allows the nursing team to find personalized ways to connect with residents through meaningful activities, music and touch.

Pam joined the Autumn View Gardens team in February of this year and brings with her 20 years of experience. She was the Director of Nursing over a memory care community from 2003 until 2011 and felt blessed to be a part of the resident’s lives. Pam is excited about fully implementing the Teepa Snow POSITIVE APPROACH™ and seeing all the benefits it brings to our residents.
